Rani no Hajiro

Manek Chowk has Badshah No Hazira on one side and Rani no Hajiro on the other side, also known as Mughalai Bibi Ka Maqbara or Ahmed Shah’s Queen’s Tomb.

History

It is built on a large floor. It has a small corridor to go around it. When entering it, it is a square open courtyard, it is about 37 meters in width, which has a big corridor on all sides. This was built in 1445 but it was completed by Mehmood Begada in 1457.

It has eight marble graves of Ahmed Shah I queens and other Gujarat Sultanate rulers in its courtyard. The main tomb is Mughal Bibi, the wife of Muhammad Shah II and the mother of Mahmud Begada. It is rich in white marble, some Muslim families live inside the complex. Who takes care of the tombs.

The area around this complex is now a market for women’s clothing, jewelry and accessories. Traditional Garba clothes are also sold here. Many types of mouthwash stalls are here.
