Ancient Time

The Adalaj stepwell having a well know story of Rudabai. The step well established in approx 1498 in the memory of Rana veer Singh. The construction had started by Rana Veer Singh of the Vaghela dynasty of Dandai Desh. The Muslim king Mahmud Begada has killed Rana veer singh in a war. Later on, The Queen Rudabai had completed this step well with the help of the Muslim King in some conditions.

Architecture

The Adalaj stepwell is almost five stories deep. It has been build by red stone Each floor is spacious enough to provide for people to congregate. The stepwell was dug deep to access groundwater at that level. As well as accounting for seasonal fluctuations in water level during the rainfall season.

The Adalaj stepwell is actually a very good place to visit. It is a must-visit place if you ever came to Ahmedabad. When I visited the first time I was surprised to see the construction of stepwell. When you enter both sides of the entry there is a window and you can take pictures over there. The every-down word of the floor you will see the mesmerizing view of the stepwell. when you reached the end of the well then you can realize the depth of the stepwell. In the end, two stairwells are there and you can come up by the stairwell.

There was a temple along the stepwell which I found very interesting.  This location is a good idea if you are in search of a place for shooting a video, pre-wedding shooting, music video, etc. overall it is a good experience should visit this place once.

Address – The Adalaj step-well is a popular tourist attraction near Gandhinagar city. The stepwell around 18 kilometers away from Ahmedabad city and 10 kilometers from Gandhinagar the capital city of Gujarat.

Mode of transport – if you are staying near Ahmedabad or in Ahmedabad then you should go for a cab or a taxi and if not then you should try the bus.

Places to visit near it – Akshardham temple, Dada Bhagwan Trimandir, Indroda Nature Park, Dinosaur, and Fossil Park.
